Professional
info

I am a trained phytopathologist, with vast experience in using beneficial microbes as biocontrol agents to manage tropical diseases in crops. I am equally interested in  sourcing for microbes as agents for bioremediation to improve the environment, particularly for removal of dyes, metals, hydrocarbons and plastics. My work also involves biodiversity discovery and harnessing beneficial compounds from microbes for medicinal, pharmaceutical and industrial applications. I have been with the academia since 2005.

Traits

  • Analytical

  • Committed

  • March 2010 - present (School of Science, Monash University Malaysia)
I joined Monash in 2010 as a Lecturer, and gradually as a Senior Lecturer in 2013, an Associate Professor  in 2017, and a full Professor in 2022. I teach Crop Science, and Environmental Microbiology to the undergraduate students. I have been the Head of Discipline (Biological Science) since 2015, and lead a team of more than 10 staff in the discipline; in curriculum development, teaching innovation and enriching student learning experience. I was also appointed as the Graduate Research Coordinator, responsible for the Higher Degree in Research programmes from 2017-2019.
